How did I get here?

I learned the hard way

I did everything that I thought I was supposed to do:

I got the degree.
I was a team player who took initiative and led extra projects.
I did everything my manager asked me to do.

Sure, I was rewarded with more responsibility, the best shifts, and was seen as a leader of the group. However, I was never actually promoted to leadership.

...and then it got worse!

A few years later, I was selected to work for the Chief of Human Resources and handled high-profile

projects on her behalf.

BUT, when a leadership role opened on the team,

I applied. They selected someone with far less experience. This was a huge blow and I felt deflated.

it started to come together

I decided to take charge of my career and address the ‘missing links’. I became willing to change everything that was blocking me from my highest potential.
